Just put my preorder in for the R1S. I read somewhere that Rivian plans on production of 20,000 units in year one.
Is there anywhere or anyway to find out how many preorders have been placed? Or find out what number in line you are?
And if not how many preorders does everyone think have been placed?

Rivian should get plenty of preorderS. I have an X and the batwing doors are impractical so R1S doors are a selling feature ( somebody should have courage to have sliding doors ). We also need tv camera rear view mirror (rear view on X is dark and difficult).
Thank you for the warm welcome and the informed response. That all makes sense to me. And we plan on enjoying the ride for sure! Now I just want to have a chance to see one in person and hopefully test drive one before it comes time to design ours.
Welcome to the forum @jschlepphorst and congrats on submitting you're pre-order.
I've been following Rivian since last November when they first revealed the R1S and R1T working prototypes at the LA Auto Show. I regularly visit multiple Rivian forums and the question of how many pre-orders have been submitted so far comes up often. I have yet to read or hear of any number. It's believed this is by design. As you probably noticed in your pre-order confirmation email it does NOT include an order number (which could have (or not) implied what number in line you are). In addition, when Rivian has been asked they respond without revealing the number. Remember, this is a company that remained in stealth for nearly 10 years until last November, so it's not surprising they continue to keep this type of information close to the vest. Perhaps they may loosen up some with this information as we get closer to the production launch in late 2020. In the mean time I'm not holding my breath nor am I going to guess. For one, I have no idea how many pre-orders submitted, and two, speculation some how usually finds its way into someone's article as fact misleading readers. Personally I would rather just avoid that and enjoy the journey in the mean time.
