The beautiful truck design by Rivian was done marvelously. The R1T is capable of up to a 400 mile range off of one charge and 0-60 in 3 seconds, their is not much more you could ask for. The bed of the truck has storage compartments in each side, also known as the gear tunnel. It will be interesting to see what Tesla has to offer as a Truck to compete with Rivian. Tesla owners are waiting for an announcement eagerly. What are your guys thoughts? Rivian Truck or Tesla Truck?

I don't want a full size truck. I'm hoping Rivian R1T is successful, being an early deposit holder. All said when Tesla comes out with their truck Rivian could be in trouble. Lets hope Rivian doesn't go through the early issues that the I-Pace is having. The I-Pace is already doing buy backs with many electronic issues. Rivian has to meet all of their promises with minimal problems. I don't want to spend my time with lots of issues that have the vehicle sitting in the shop as many I-Paces are doing as I speak.
Elon’s remarks about the Tesla pickup being enormous and insanely powerful led me to guess that it will be based on the semi truck platform. In any event its “blade runner cyberpunk” characterization is part of the reason I put a deposit down on a Rivian R1T.
Granted, the R1T is a tangible vehicle. Perhaps a one off to test and generate interest in it's segment. As of yet it, isn't available for consumers.
Just because Tesla has not revealed a pick up doesn't preclude it from existence. In any case a comparison is pointless.
In an interview with Recode, Musk reiterated that he is “personally most excited about the pickup truck” and added:
“Well I can’t talk about the details, but it’s gonna be like a really futuristic-like cyberpunk, “Blade Runner” pickup truck. It’s gonna be awesome, it’s gonna be amazing. This will be heart-stopping. It stops my heart. It’s like, oh, it’s great.”
“It’s something I’ve been wanting to make for a long time. If there’s only a small number of people that like that truck, I guess we’ll make a more conventional truck in the future. But it’s the thing that I am personally most fired up about.”
To say it will be "not functional for sure" is presumptuous at best.
Bollinger Motors https://www.bollingermotors.com is also in the fray and taking reservations for its B1 &B2.
The take away is the more players in the EV field the better off we all will be. It's not about this vs. that. It's about how competition breads innovation. I am hopeful that Rivian is successful in it's endeavor to produce EV's and play it's part to squeeze out the ICE.
Comparing Rivian R1T to Tesla pickup is impossible one exists the other one doesn't. Elon Musk said that Tesla is not aiming for the pickup anytime soon, he wants to do it as his pet project, super futuristic and not functional for sure.
Seeing how either vehicle is available the Rivian Vs Tesla comparison is pointless.
I am a Tesla fan, but would prefer a design that would fit in my garage. I don’t need to haul other pickups in my truck bed, just want a reliable, powerful, comfortable, affordable and usable EV pickup. I am intrigued by the RT1 and related design features previewed so far (except for the front visual design with the two vertical “slits“ - they disrupt the natural lines of the truck too much, in my opinion.)
Well, if it looks anything like this...
Tesla truck.
Tesla all the way!!
